Julia [Farmer] Westfall
June 15, 1920 ~ June 5, 2004

Julia Farmer Westfall, of Paoli, was born June 15, 1920 in Paoli, Oklahoma to Ray and Oral (James) Farmer. She passed away, after a sudden illness, on June 5, 2004 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years.

Julia Farmer and Harold Lee Westfall were married in Elmore City, Oklahoma on June 1, 1939. She and Harold would have celebrated 65 years together on June first. Homemaker and a retired Bookkeeper.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Harold; her only son, Earl Leon Westfall, her only daughter, Deanna Jo Westfall O'Malley and her parents, Ray and Oral Farmer.

Surviving family include her granddaughters, Robin DeAnn McCormick and husband, Chris, Kim LaDawn Westfall Turner and husband, Alan, Karla Jo Westfall Weeks and husband, Paul, and Jeanne Kae Westfall Joiner and husband, Rick; grandsons, James Robert Lucas, Jr. and wife, Hattie and Michael Edward O'Malley and wife, Kim; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives.

Julia and Harold moved from Del City, where they had lived for 35 years, to make Paoli their home. They became the volunteer caretakers of the Paoli Cemetery. This work not only included the grounds but also maintaining all the maps and records and the finances of the cemetery. Later, they were instrumental in the establishment of the Paoli Senior Citizens Building. Julia was also the Treasurer of the Paoli Historical Society and was the instrumental force in preparing the 530 page book, "Proud of Paoli", which is still in print and available from the Historical Society. Much of the information came from her "memory bank". As the "Proud of Paoli" books says, "Julia's memory bank must have rivaled a computer hard drive".

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Fred Butler. Burial will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
