© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma May 14, 2005 Marie [Oden] Scales December 23, 1914 ~ May 14, 2005 Marie Oden Scales, of Paoli was born December 23, 1914 in Liberty Hills, Texas to Charles Cummins Oden and Effie Holland Oden. She passed away May 14, 2005 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years to be with her Lord and Savior. She moved from Texas to Oklahoma in the late 1920's. She had lived in the Elmore area for a while then moved to Pauls Valley. Her parents bought property in Paoli where she lived most of her life. Marie met and married Alpha Scales on August 14, 1939 and they moved to McAlester. When her husband passed away, she returned to Paoli to be near her parents. She was a member of Paoli United Pentecostal Church. Marie was a wonderful Christian and devoted her life to her church as well as her family. She loved to study the Bible. She was living in the Pauls Valley Health Care Facility from November 1999 until passing away at the hospital. Marie was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles Cummins Oden and Effie Holland Oden; an infant brother, Earnest Oden; a brother, Charles William Oden and a sister, Beulah Speerbrecher. Surviving family include her nephews, Ervin Speerbrecher of Paoli; David Oden, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Raymond Speerbrecher and his wife Kaye Lynn of Wynnewood; nieces, Peggy Brady & her husband Jim of Paoli; Sharon McDaniel & her husband Phillip of Garland, Texas; Becky Byler & her husband Robert of Bosier City, Louisiana; a sister in law, Lavonne Oden of Shreveport, Louisiana; and a host of other great nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2:00 pm at United Pentecostal Church of Paoli officiated by Rev. Terry Erwin. Burial will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
