© Whinery~Huddleston Funeral Service Lawton, Oklahoma Thursday, November 20, 2003 December 31, 1916 ~ November 20, 2003 Funeral Mass for Frank Bara Ortiz, 86, Lawton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. James D.M. Stafford officiating. Mr. Ortiz died Thursday, November 20, 2003. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Louis Ortiz officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Paoli Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He was born December 31, 1916, in Bronte, Texas, to Patricia B. Martinez and Eugene Ortiz. He married Vivian Mobbs Ortiz on May 16, 1942, in Sulphur. He retired from the Army in 1969 as SFC E-7, after more than 24 years of service. During his time in the military he received numerous awards and accommodations, including the Good Conduct Medal. He was a life member of the DAV and the VFW. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons: Durell Hall, Norman; and Bobby Mitchell, Oklahoma City; five brothers: Louis B. Ortiz, Killeen, Texas; Robert Martinez, Eden Valley, Minn.; Felix Ortiz and Pete Ortiz, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Eugene Ortiz, Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters: Lucille Wiley, Farmington, N.M.; Caroline B. Salazar, Jones; and Lupe Cabazos, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Janie Hernandez, Tulare, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Kenneth Ortiz; three brothers; and three sisters. |
