© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Monday, June 7, 1999 February 8, 1905 ~ June 7, 1999 Visitation for Jewell Klinglesmith Hickman has been scheduled for Thursday, June 10 from the hours of 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Stufflebean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, 1999 at Stufflebean Home Chaper, officiated by Fred Butler. Interment will be at the Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean Funeral Home. Jewell Klingsmith Hickman, 94, of Paoli passed away Monday, June 7, 1999 at the Pauls Valley Health Care facility in Pauls Valley. She was born February 8, 1905 in Pauls Valley, OK, Indian Territory, to John and Mary Alice [White] Kennedy. Jewell moved to Paoli with her parents at 10 years of age. Jewell was a 1925 graduate from Paoli High School. She married Noah Klinglesmith of Paoli at an early age and continued her education at college earning a degree in education. They were blessed with two sons. Her teaching career began in rural Garvin County schools teaching from 1924 until her retirement in 1946. In 1946, she was employed by the Garvin County Welfare Department as a social worker and retired from there in 1970. Noah Klinglesmith preceded her in death on Sept 30, 1956. In January 1964, she and Roy L. Cherry of Paoli were married. He preceded her in death in May 1975. In July 1982, she was married to A.W. Hickman of Paoli. He preceded her in death in April 1985. Jewell was a member of Paoli United Methodist Church since 1922 and has been very active until her health began to fail her. Jewell enjoyed teaching, working with the 4-H, and giving of what she had to her many friends through her contacts in her profession throughout the country; many of whom she has kept in contact with all these many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one brother, Jess Kennedy; and five sisters; Clates VanNess, Myrtle Ivy, Inez Cole, Dixie Gosnell, and Bernice Gaisford. The family has reguested that in liew of flowers, memorials be sent to the Building Fund at the Paoli United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 31 in Paoli, OK 73074. She is survived by two sons; John Bruce Klinglesmith of Pauls Valley, and Jerry Don Klinglesmith of Edmond; one sister, Ruth McMillen of Meeker; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. |
