John Marion Jaye
August 15, 1864 ~ January 25, 1918


John Marion Jaye, born in IL, was the son of Dr. David Jaye, born in 1815, Ipswich, Suffolk Co., England, and Julia Ann Briggs, born in 1829, in Davidson Co., NC; with both buried in Texas,1895 and 1925, respectively.

He married a widow, Mrs. Martha Elmira "Mattie" [Dobyns] Reed, a native of Cambridge, Story Co., Iowa, in Gordonville, Grayson Co., Texas, on December 25, 1885 with the Rev. Jno. Smith of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, officiating.

Their eight children were: Ivy Priscilla Cotner, Ada Marian Samples, William “Bill” Jaye, Ida Bell Yoakum, married brothers, Eva Velma Yoakum, Ora Ogburn, Vaughn Jennings Bryan Jaye and Guy Leroy “Little Guy Jaye, who was killed by a Fresno, CA, train as a child.

A carpenter and a home builder in Maysville, OK, he was a member of Woodmen of the World organization.
