Mrs. Emmitt Byrd Claimed by Death

Mrs. Esther Lee Byrd, 43, wife of Emmitt Byrd, died Saturday night at the family home near Woodland, after an illness of about a year.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Davis Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. D. Gentry. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery west of Davis, with Hutchins in charge.

Mrs. Byrd was born in Bastrop county, Texas, May 24, 1902. She moved to Davis with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Wells, when one month old and lived near this city most of her life. She was married to Mr. Byrd in 1923.

She is survived by her husband, seven children and none grandchild. The funeral was delayed one day awaiting the arrival of a navyman, Cleo Wyley Byrd, in service on the Pacific coast. A Married daughter, Mrs. Lurana Nowlin, Ada, Okla., was unable to be present.
