Tuesday, 24 December 2013 Sarah Francis [Young] Martin Short Bio is by Dave Martin living next to Whitebead School. My g grandmother, Sarah Francis Young was the daughter of Harriet Ralls and James Young Jr. James Young was born in 1836 in Morgan Cty, Alabama and he married Harriet Ralls likely in Polk County, Arkansas. He was in the Civil War and died as a prisoner of war from small pox in a hospital in Petersburg, Virginia where he is buried. It is likely that Sarah FRANCIS never saw or knew her father since he died in 1863 and had been a pow at Ft. Douglas , Illinois. Francis' mother Harriet remarried a Josephus Perrin and even though Francis took on the Perrin name she was not adopted. Proof is her marriage license in November 30, 1876 in Howard County, Arkansas to James Wyley Martin. She is listed as YOUNG. She is buried next to her husband in this cemetery. It is likely that she may have buried some children there as well. There are NO grave markers in around her grave or her husband's. May she rest in peace along with her husband. Francis mother married a W.B. Logan and is buried in Fairlawn cemetery in Oklahoma City on North Shartel. |
