Oklahoma City, Oklahoma May 2023 July 7, 1926 ~ May 30, 2023 William Lee “Bill” LaRue Jr., 96, of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on July 27, 1926, in Bixby, Oklahoma to the late William Lee LaRue Sr. and Velora Whitehorn LaRue. He is the middle of 3 children. His father worked for Phillips Petroleum, so they moved frequently throughout his childhood. Bill graduated from Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City and was elected President of his Senior Class. After graduation he met his future wife of 71 years, Edwina Robbins. They married on October 20, 1944, in Norman, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2015. He was drafted into the Army in 1944 and did basic training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. After basic training he was sent to California for more training, than to Oahu, Hawaii. From there his tour took him to the Philippines where he served as supply sergeant for 18 months service. After the war he returned to stateside and was honorably discharged on December 26, 1945. Bill worked and retired at the age of 59 from Phillips Petroleum. In 1985 he moved to Kingston where he lived for the rest of his life. Bill was a member and also served as a deacon for the New Hope Baptist Church in Kingston, and he enjoyed fishing, golfing and was very involved in the Baptist Children Home. He is survived by Children: Forrest LaRue and wife Carole, Choctaw, Oklahoma; Phil LaRue and wife Luelsa, Edmond, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Laura, Lance, Shawn and Danika; 6 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Howard LaRue, Searsport, Maine. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and 1 sister: Coleen Godsy. Casket Bearers: Shawn LaRue, Hayden Harris, Lance LaRue, Jacob LaRue, Ken Morris, Marcus Godsy. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill, OK. Denison, Texas October 24, 2015 October 31, 1928 ~ October 24, 2015 Edwina Lee LaRue, 86 of Kingston, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born on October 31, 1928 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Tommy B. Robbins and Florence Evelyn Forrest. Lee was raised in Cushing, Oklahoma City and Whitesboro, Oklahoma. She married William Lee LaRue Jr. on October 20, 1944 in Norman, Oklahoma. Lee and Bill lived in Odessa, Texas, Ardmore, Wynnewood and Oklahoma City. She worked as a Paralegal for Kerr-Davis and Norton-Burbage Law Firms. In 1986 they moved to Kingston where she lived the rest of her life. Lee was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and she enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, clogging and traveling. She is survived by: Husband: Bill LaRue Jr., Kingston, Oklahoma; Sons: Forrest LaRue and wife Carole, Choctaw, Oklahoma; Phil LaRue and wife Luelsa, Edmond, Oklahoma; 4 Grandchildren: Laura, Lance, Shawn and Danika; 6 Great Grandchildren: Sierra, Morgan, Jacob, Lauryn, Lilly and Hayden |
