Brown, 94, of Ponca City, passed away Monday February 4, 2013 at Shawn Manor. Mary was born on May 26, 1918 in Perkins, OK to John Robert and Mary Jane [Elliott] Stone. She grew up in Perkins graduating Perkins High School and then went to Ponca City Business College majoring in secretarial work. She married Wesley Brown on April 13, 1940 in Perkins. Mr. Brown passed away in 2000. She was a member of Ponca City First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She loved her church, sewing, gardening, taking care of her family and home. She had also been a substitute teacher for Nelagoney and White Eagle schools. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers; Ralph Stone, Carl Stone, Frank Stone and sister-Madelyn Evans. Survivors are 2 daughters; Shari Tarver and husband Jim of Moore, OK, Donna Humfleet and husband Keith of Antlers, OK. 3 Grandchildren; Sheli Hicks, Keli Tarver and Adam Tarver. 2 Great Grandchildren; Candy Hicks and Josh Hicks. Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, February 7, 2013 in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Pastor Andy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Sheli Hicks, Keli Tarver and Adam Tarver. |
