Mazie C. [Bristol] Stonecipher
September 27, 1915 ~ March 28, 2010


Mazie C. Stonecipher, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 94 years.

The daughter of the late Joseph Bristol and Daphene Harmon Bristol, Mazie was born on September 27, 1915 in Elmore City, OK where she was also reared and educated.

She was united in marriage to Woodrow W. “Stonie” Stonecipher on December 1, 1931 in Purcell, OK.

The couple had resided in Kansas and Texas during World War II and moved to Cushing in 1944. To this union three children, Sherrie, Frankie Jo and Donald, were born.

Mazie and Woodrow celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before he died in 1992.

Mazie was a member of the Church of Christ.

Before moving into Linwood Village, she was an active member of the Laureate Nu Sorority, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and had played in a Bunco group for many years.

Survivors include two children, Frankie Jo “Jody” Lucas and her husband Joe of Mount Pulaski, IL and Donald W. Stonecipher and his wife Carol of Green Valley, AZ; five grandchildren, Robert V. Woodard and his wife Joyce, Jack W. Woodard both of Albuquerque, NM, Diane Millikin and her husband Sam of Pittsburgh, PA, Kenneth Stonecipher and his wife Nora and David Stonecipher and his wife Diana both of Dallas; special cousins, Sue Harmon and her husband Jim of Oilton; 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mazie was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrie who died in 1997; one brother Joseph A. Bristol of New Orleans, LA and one sister, Ruby Hartley of Porterville, CA.

Mazie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and MeMo and will be remembered for always having a smile for everyone.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Church of Christ with Brother Wendyll Heffington officiating.

Burial will be held at the 3:30 P.M. in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. Following the burial, the family will gather with friends at the Church of Christ in Pauls Valley, 1509 W. Grant.
