© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Augsst 2014 Frank Michael "Mike" Ringer November 8, 1943 ~ August 15, 2014 Frank Michael "Mike" Ringer, 70, of Norman died Friday, August 15, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman with Cal Brannon officiating. Mike was born November 8, 1943 in Oklahoma City to John F. and Grace E. Ringer. He grew up and attended school in Pauls Valley. Mike went on to play QB for Bud Wilkinson at OU and was the first sophomore QB to start for the coach. He was also an Academic All-American and 1965 Co-Captain for the Sooners. He was drafted and played for the St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL and finished with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He attended OU Law School and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1970. Mike was an Assist. District Attorney in Norman and moved on to be the Director of Training for the National College of District Attorneys in Houston and finished his career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 1978 until his retirement. Mike and his wife Karol raised their family in Norman and attended McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed many hobbies including coaching youth sports, hunting, fishing, rafting, and attending OU and his son's and grandchildren's sporting events. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Karol; son, Brian Ringer and his wife Kristan of Norman; grandchildren, Gray Michael and Aimee Grace; son, Jeff Ringer and his wife Katie of Norman; sisters, Marilyn Ringer of Chico, CA and Marjorie Little of Pauls Valley; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Fletcher, Bob Warmack, Dr. Rick McCurdy, Dr. John Sacra, Gary Vinagri, Tom A. Clark, Jerry Valentine, Wayne Veal, Rick Veal, Dean Veal, and Gray and Aimee Ringer. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or a charity of your choice.
