November 27, 1985 Walter Riley "Red" Rawson October 17, 1919 ~ November 27, 1985 Walter Riley "Red" Rawson, 66, was born in Garvin County, October 17, 1919, and died in OKC, a victim of an apparent robbery-homicide. He spent his childhood in Garvin County, and served in the 8th Air Corps during WWII, taking his training in Boise City ID, and later was transferred to Alconbury AFB, Huntingdon Shire, London, England. After the war, he moved to OKC, and established the Red Rawson Auto Sales at 25th & S. Agnew, that he operated for 25 years. He moved with his family to Dibble OK in 1962, and operated a farm until 1971, until his health prompted him to move back to OKC, where he operated his present car lot at 516 S. Walker. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Leon Rawson, who was buried in England, also his father and mother, Stonewall Jackson Rawson and Margaret Jane Rawson, and 2 sisters, Lona Mae Newberry and Floy Lee Mayfield. Mr. Rawson is survived by 1 son, David of Arkansas City KS; 2 daughters, Debra Kaye Sparks of Alex OK, and Connie Sue Wood of Kingston OK; brothers, Hance of Newcastle OK, Eddie of Maysville OK, Dave of OKC, A.L. (Dude) of Moore; 1 grandson, Sh awn Sparks of Alex OK, 2 granddaughters, Nicole Sparks of Alex OK, and Tiffany Wood of Kingston OK; several nieces and nephews, many loved ones and friends. Services 10am Thursday, Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary, with 2pm graveside at Mt. Olivet Cemetery , Pauls Valley OK |
