© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma October 2013 Nadine Lozell [Potter] Pearson May 06, 1926 ~ October 15, 2013 Nadine L. Pearson, 87 of Moore, Oklahoma passed away on October 15, 2013 at her home. She was born in Pauls Valley on May 6th, 1926 and was raised there and finished high school. She got married, it didn’t work out she had a son [Cecil] by him. In 1946, she got a divorce from him, while she lived in Pauls Valley. She worked after school at Fields Tavern, Crabtree Drug Store and G.F. Wackers 5&10 store and Maw Avery Hamburgers and Chili Place. Later in 1946 she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she went to work for Beverly’s Chain for Chicken in the Rough, where she worked 13 years. She later attended Hills Business College, after that she was offered a job to go to IBM school at the State Capital in Oklahoma City where she was offered a job for three months. Upon completion they would place them in a job and that is when she got her break and was offered a job at Tinker Air Force Base. When she was working for Beverly’s her and three of her friends would go skating on their nights or stop by a place called Little Louie’s and go dancing. At that time her mother was there and took care of her son. To get back to her story in 1949 she and her girlfriends would go down to the Little Louie’s and at that time she saw a guy she thought she knew. She knew she was right, he was in an Air Force uniform; they started over to see each other and he spoke to her and asked “Are you Nadine L. Potter?” She said “yes, but its Bowman now as I’m divorced and have son.” She said “The last time I saw you was in 1942”, he said “I joined the service and have been in since then.” She was surprised they had known each other for years and he was from Wynnewood, it was just 7 miles apart. They started going together; her son was 6 ½ years old. They were wed on August 17, 1951; if he were still alive they would have been married 62 years. The love of her life passed away Dec. 1991. They moved back to Moore after her husband retired from the service in 1966. She went to work at F.A.A. Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. She retired there on a medical on Decrmber 14, 1978. She was in a Classified [U2] program. Nadine was a mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her Husband Lee Julian Pearson, her parents Floyd and Callie Potter, 5 sisters, 4 brothers along with nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a son, Cecil Dee Bowman, daughter in law, Olive Maria Bowman of Moore, 2 grandchildren, Edward Lee Bowman of Oklahoma City [wife Brittany Bowman], Millissa Weems of Missouri (husband Robert Weems), and 4 great grandchildren- Emma Bowman, Nathaniel Weems, Elizabeth Weems, Julian Weems. She also leaves behind a lot of loving friends made over her 87 years of life. |
