© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma March 2019 Lloyd Pearson October 28, 1922 ~ March 22, 2019 Lloyd Pearson, of Pauls Valley, passed away March 22, 2019 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years. Lloyd was born October 28, 1922 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Willie [Rambo] Pearson and Alford Alonzo Pearson. Shortly after high school Lloyd was drafted in the United States Army. He served in Europe during World Ward II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Pauls Valley and shortly thereafter began playing minor league baseball. Lloyd played for several teams from 1946 to 1954 including the Pauls Valley Raiders and playing in Corpus Christi, Texas; while there, in one year, he led the league in batting and pitching. Lloyd and Wilda Ruth Montgomery were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 6, 1962 and did not tell anyone for a very long time. He worked at the Kerr-McGee Refinery in Wynnewood and retired after 33 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Alford A. and Willie Pearson, and his loving wife, Wilda, 2006. His surviving family include: one brother, A. B. Pearson; many family members of his other brothers and sisters and a great host of community friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. © Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma April 2006 Wilda Ruth Pearson June 12, 1928 ~ April 20, 2006 Wilda Ruth Pearson of Pauls Valley was born June 12, 1928 in the Hoxbar community near Ardmore, Oklahoma, to W.M. and Orpha Belle (Cox) Montgomery. She passed away April 20, 2006 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Wilda was raised in the Hoxbar community and later moved with her family to Pauls Valley where she attended school and is a Pauls Valley High School graduate. She began working G.F. Wacker's in 1942 where she became a Buyer for the stores. Wilda worked there until her retiring at the closing of the store after 39 years of service. Wilda Ruth Montgomery and Lloyd Pearson were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 6, 1962 and have been blessed with nearly 44 years together. Pauls Valley has been her home most of her life. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley and for many years a member of the Pansy Garden Club. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Montgomery. Surviving family include her husband, Lloyd Pearson of the home; two sisters: LaVerne Grissom of Pauls Valley and Ivajo and her husband Charles Zurhmely of Shawnee; a brother-in-law, A.B. Pearson and his wife Vel of Pauls Valley; two sisters-in-law: Imogene Pruitt of Pauls Valley and June Pearson of Norman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Dr. Joe Elam.
