© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma November 2018 Loretta Jean [Hutchins] McCurley July 9, 1931 ~ November 16, 2018 Loretta Jean McCurley, age 87, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018. Jean was born on July 9, 1931 in Oklahoma City to her parents Adath Word and Minnie Mae Hutchins. Jean was a graduate of Pauls Valley High School and lived over 70 years in Pauls Valley working with many attorneys in the Pauls Valley and Garvin County area but was only employed by 4 attorneys during her entire 55 year career as a legal secretary (Haskell Paul, Sam Goodwin, Harry Bryan and John Blake). Jean earned her Certificate of Paralegal Studies from the University of Oklahoma and in 1999 was recognized for 50 years of legal secretary service by the Garvin County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Supreme Court. She was actively involved with many civic organizations and always ready to help when there was a need. Due to her husband’s military service during WWII, she was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars holding both local as well as district offices. Jean married Arthel L McCurley on November 29, 1952 and was the mother to Linda L Daugherty and Steve A. McCurley. She was preceded in death by her parents Adath and Minnie Hutchins, her husband Arthel McCurley, her brother Max Hutchins, and her sister Kay Croom. She is survived by her daughter Linda Daugherty and husband Phil of Wayne, Oklahoma, her son Steve McCurley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her granddaughter Dr Jamie Daugherty Evans and husband Lee of Dadeville, Alabama, and her great-grandson Joshua Cunningham of Dadeville, Alabama. Jean leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends. A private interment was conducted at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. While no formal funeral service is planned, a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Local services were under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
