Holt, of Pauls Valley, passed away July 31, 2019 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years. John was born February 21, 1921 in Maud, Oklahoma to Edna Josephine [Barnett] and Luttie W. "Jack" Holt. He grew up in Maud and is a graduate of the Maud High School. He furthered his education by attending the University of Oklahoma where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Music and continued to complete his education at the University of Oklahoma by earning a Masters Degree in Music. John served in the United State Navy and is a Veteran of World War II. He was a School Teacher and Chorus Teacher. John taught at Classen High School, at Indianapolis High School, Oak Lawn High School in Chicago and sang 15 years in Chicago. He, later, returned to Oklahoma to teach in the Classen High School, from there went to O M A and then to Warner, Oklahoma. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma and Indianapolis, Indiana. Pauls Valley has been his home since 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luttie W. Jack and Edna J. Holt; infant son, Richard Earl Holt; and brothers, Jack Joe Holt and Bill T. Holt. John is survived by his brother and sister in law, Robert E. 'Bob' and Barbara Holt of Pauls Valley; and special friends, Ron and Kay Winn. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Rev. Jim Dehart. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home |
