Olivet Cemetery. Services for cremation are under the direction of the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley. You are invited to send the family a message of condolence at the top of this page. Carolyn Claxton, of Pauls Valley, passed away October 9, 2014 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years. She was born February 2, 1936 in Pauls Valley to Frank Overton and Mary Lillian Dennis James. Carolyn attended school in Pauls Valley and is a graduate of Pauls Valley High School. Carolyn E. James was married to A. Duone Claxton in Pauls Valley on November 19, 1955. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and has worked in the Nursery for over 20 years. Pauls Valley has been her home all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian James; her husband, Duone Claxton; son, Gary Wayne Claxton; and brother, Frank James, Jr. Surviving family include: her children, Dennis Claxton of Los Angeles, California; and Rodger Claxton of San Francisco, California; brother, Billy Don James and his wife, Janice, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Simone Claxton and Miranda Claxton. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials in the name of Carolyn Claxton be sent to the SIMS Foundation at P. O. Box 2152 in Austin, TX 78768 or on-line at www.simsfoundation.org/donate. This foundation provides free mental health services for musicians in Austin, TX. |
