© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma December 4, 2010 Geneva Louis [Sheegog] Butler July 8, 1916 ~ December 4, 2010 Geneva Louis [Sheegog] Butler, of Pauls Valley, passed away December 4, 2010, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years. She was born July 8, 1916 in Maysville, Oklahoma the youngest child of William E. and Katy Lou [Patterson] Sheegog. She attended and is a graduate of Maysville. On August 4, 1935, she and Darold James Butler were married in Maysville, Oklahoma. They were married nearly 52 years at the time of his death in 1987. As newlyweds, she and Darold lived west of Pauls Valley on the old Butler farm, and later (1968) on the hill next to I-35. Their home was a gathering place for many friends and relatives. She raised five daughters and was a wonderful cook and seamstress. Geneva found time for many other organizations such as the Women's Farm Bureau Committee, 4-H Club Leader, Pauls Valley Round-Up Club, PTA, Happy Hour Extension Club, Garvin County Cattlemen's Association and Women's American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid exhibitor at the Garvin County Fair each year with her fine cooking and vegetable displays and had many recipes in the Garvin County Extension Cookbook. She was most dedicated to the Lord in the Pauls Valley Church of Christ. She served as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and headed up many committees for funerals, showers and youth activities. After Darold's death, visiting her children and grandchildren became her greatest joy, right along with doing her yard work and producing some beautiful flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darold James Butler; also her parents, William E. and Katy Lou Sheegog; sisters and brothers, Thelma Whitely, Lou Antha Carlton, Hubert Sheegog and Cecil Sheegog. Surviving family include her five daughters, Linda Carol Pesterfield and her husband, W. C., of Pauls Valley; Barbara Lou Houck and her husband, Kent, of Stillwater; Neva Sue McRay of Edmond; Darolyn Jane Butler of Houston, Texas; and LaNese Gayle Marshall, Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her home caregivers, the caregivers from Pauls Valley Care Center, Dr. Brian Allee and Dr. Steve Moore, for their care and kindness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Church of Christ officiated by Roy Shave and Kent Houck. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
