Odell C. "Bud" Robertson

Odell C. "Bud" Robertson, aged 87, Norman was born January 01, 1909 Starke City, MO. to Clyde Everett Robertson and Mabel Snyder Robertson. He died Friday, January 26, 1996, at Norman, OK.

Bud loved his family and always worked to provide for them. He especially adored his mother and always tried to take care of his younger brothers. Bud started working in a drug store at age 8. He was always a hard worker and as a child, he won a bicycle for his paper route. After leaving Missouri to move to Florida for a couple of years, his family moved around Oklahoma to various oil fields. During these years, Bud worked in drug stores, first in Wewoka, then Seminole, then at the Plaza Court Veasy Drug in Oklahoma City, and finally at the Campus Drug in Norman. It was there in 1930 that he met Dorothy Shi, his wife to be. They were later married June 14, 1936, in Stratford, OK, at her family home. He purchased Π of the Campus Drug and managed it after they married.

During the WWII, he was a welder for Kaiser Industries on the Liberty ships in Oakland, CA, and managed a crew of female welders. After the war, they returned to Oklahoma and he finished purchasing the store. When certification became available for practicing pharmacists, he completed the coursework at night and passed the examination to become a Registered Pharmacist. Bud owned and operated the Campus Drug, which was later called Campus Pharmacy and Bud's Campus Shop on Campus Corner in Norman until his retirement in 1974.

Bud loved his work, was generous with his family, and took care of his own. Bud always enjoyed taking care of their ranch in Stratford, where he raised cattle. He loved to ranch, do yard work, and keep his backyard orchard. These pursuits kept him busy in retirement. He was active in the adult fitness program at OU, and was a fellowship singer at the First Baptist Church, where he was also a member.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mabel Robertson, and two brothers - Jack and Aubrey Robertson. He was survived by his wife Dorothy, of the home, daughter Mallory Robertson Harvey and her Husband James F. Harvey, III, of Norman, and two grandchildren Douglas and Deven Hahn.

He was actively involved with his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. Bud met challenges head on remaining positive, optimistic, and sincere. His personality always showed through in spite of some real adversities. Bud had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed living. He was treasured by his family and is now with his Father in paradise.

Mallory R. Harvey is the daughter of O. C. "Bud" and Dorothy [Shi] Robertson.
