Oklahoma July 2013 June 8, 1925 ~ July 17, 2013 Billy Joe "BJ" Hobson of Maysville was born June 8, 1925, at Wayne, Oklahoma to Tavy and Anna Mae [Sullivan] Hobson and passed from this life on July 17, 2013 at the age of 88. Bill lived most of his life in the Wayne and Maysville area. He married Mildred Imogene Van Schuyver on October 10, 1947, in DeRidder, Louisana. Bill and Mildred raised four children together. Bill was active in 4-H and FFA during his school days. He farmed, worked construction, owned a bulldozer service and worked in the TransOK gasoline refinery. He retired from Phillips 66 as an oil field pumper on July 1, 1986. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, welding, working with cattle and Bible study. His joy was fixing things. Bill is survived by a son, Joe Hobson and wife Sharon of Comanche, Oklahoma; 3 daughters, Diana Sullivan and husband Patrick of Stratford, Oklahoma; Teresa Kitchens and husband John of Moore, Oklahoma and Melanie Porter and husband Dennis of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren; a nephew, Johnny Davenport and wife Priscilla of Grapevine, Texas, two nieces, Jeanie Marshall and Carolyn Keifer of Arizona. Bill is preceded in death by: his wife Mildred, his parents, 1 brother, Leon Hobson and wife Billie, and 1 sister Lois Davenport and husband JT. Bill was a deacon at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in care of Paul Hardcastle, 613 Marland, Purcell, Oklahoma 73080, in Bill's memory. Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 am, at the Abundant Love Church with Randy Rhea officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery in Maysville, OK. |
