Opal Evaline [Sharp] Dudley
June 3, 1918 ~ January 1, 2008


Opal Dudley, 89, born June 3, 1918, in Vanoss, Oklahoma to Lavada and Nora Wilson Sharp, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at the Lexington Nursing Home.

Opal Dudley was raised in the Washington-Purcell area.

She married Walter Dudley on December 2, 1933. They had 1 daughter and 3 sons. She spent her married life as a housewife and helping Walter work on their farms, first at Alex and later at Maysville.

She loved her children, grandchildren and all of her friends. Get-to-gethers, as she called them, were her favorite thing.

She was an active member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church until her health began to fail and it was necessary for her to go to into a nursing home.

Survivors include 3 sons, Charles Dudley of Marlow, OK, James Dudley of Maysville, OK, Joe Dudley of Allen, OK; 1 daughter, Rita West of Edmond, OK; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Hill of Midwest City, OK, and Florene Sharp of Clovis, California; 8 grandchildren, David Dudley of Antlers, OK, Shonda Harvey of Durant, OK, Nikki Dudley of Durant, OK, Ladell Hulsey of Paris, Texas, Valerie Hamilton of Pauls Valley, OK, Leesa Norman of Paoli, OK, and Katheryn and Alex West of Edmond, OK; 12 great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Dudley, Stone Dudley, Kylon and Kamron Harvey, Conrad and Sadie Hulsey, Emily and Jacob Hamilton, Thomas Jay, Katelyn Faith, and Shealee Grace Norman.

Opal Dudley was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Vada and Nora Sharp; two brothers, Lester and Delmer Sharp; one sister, Jewel Lambert; and three grandchildren, Steve Dudley, Chris Sharber, and April Dudley.

Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon, January 4, 2008, at 3:00 pm at the Maysville Cemetery, under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the Oklahoma Alzheimer's Association, 6465 S. Yale Ave., Suite 312, Tulsa, OK 74136, in memory of Mrs. Opal Dudley.
