Purcell, Oklahoma Friday, February 28, 2014. Imogene [Treat] Coody February 8, 1928 - February 24, 2014 Imogene Coody, age 86 of Wayne, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Imogene Treat was born February 8, 1928 in Flippin, AR, 1 of 5 children born to Thomas Osborn Treat and Viola [Hall] Treat. Imogene spent her early years in Branson, MO where she attended school. As luck would have it, she met a young service man from Maysville, OK. They fell madly in love and on July 31, 1944, Imogene and Royal Nathaniel Coody were united in marriage in Lawton, OK. They made their home in Wayne for many years, where together they raised 2 daughters, Royalena and Trecia. Imogene began working for the University of Oklahoma as a cook before taking similar position at Wayne High School. After several years working in the schools, Imogene began working at the Senior Citizens building in Purcell. She enjoyed people and her work there brought her great joy. Imogene cherished her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent countless hours following them to various school activities and programs. Imogene was a very creative person who greatly enjoyed working with various arts and crafts projects, and she never missed an opportunity shopping a thrift store or garage sales. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Royal Nathaniel Coody; Her parents, Thomas and Viola Treat; A brother, Sylvester Treat and 2 sisters, Iva Coffelt and Ina Cotter. Imogene leaves behind: Her daughters, Royalena Alvarado and husband Richard of Payne and Trecia Doss of Bakersfield, CA; Her sister, Trecia Griffin of Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Debbie Pitts of Hot Springs, AR, Allen Alvarado of Little Rock, AR, Kurt Alvarado of Wayne, Jamie Sheff of Wayne, Nat Alvarado and wife Tamara of Payne, OK and J Doss and wife Chrissie of Madera, CA; 8 great grandchildren, Heather, Richard, Michael, Lilly, Jason, Ryan, Joel and Dillon and A host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Maysville Cemetery. |
