Alma Lake Sullivan Brand
October 28, 1927 ~ April 9, 2021


Alma Lake Sullivan Sparks Brand was born to Coach Bloomer Sullivan and Maggie Lake [White] Sullivan on October 28, 1927 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Alma Lake passed away on April 9, 2021 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, peacefully at the age of 93 years.

Alma Lake graduated from Durant High School and Southeastern State University. Her majors were Art, Music, and Elementary Education.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Alma Lake was a volunteer who gave up her time and energy to be a Red Cross water safety instructor for Beckham County, as well as a Girl Scout Leader.

Alma made her journey to New Mexico to teach school because of the Love she had for New Mexico.

Alma's hobbies included fishing in Pitkin, Colorado, site seeing, and the Love of nature. She was very creative and artistic and she loved to decorate her home..

Alma raised her children to be the people they are today, through good times and hard times together. She made many good memories to share for the years to come. To know her was to Love her. Her legacy was her Love.

Alma Lake is survived by Ida Lake Sparks Moore, Pete and Kat Sparks, Leslie Leigh Hoover, and Rex Montgomery. Her grandchildren are Cary Moore Cuddeback, Candice and Rick St Cyr, Whitney and Stephen Holmes, Courtney and Manuel Arellano, Tana and Monica Hoover. She had 11 great grandchildren, Kyler and Kamden Cuddeback, Kaitlyn and Maddie St Cyr, Tatum Holmes, Isaac, Mia, Evelyn, Emma, and Kroy Arellano and Canon Hoover. Alma is also survived by her brother, Bloomer Don Sullivan and wife Glenda. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmie Lee Sparks and Lloyd Brand, her parents, Bloomer and Maggie Lake Sullivan, and siblings, June Megan Maxey and Debra Dawn Sullivan. Also two sons-in-law, Dwight Moore and Troy Hoover.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be makd to: Southeastern Oklahoma State University, The Southeastern Foundation, 425 W. University Blvd., Durant, OK 74701 OR Elmwood Volunteer Fire Department, RR4, Box 120, Beaver, OK 73932. Note in memory of Alma Lake Brand, c/o Pete Sparks, 117 Candice Dr. NW, Piedmont, OK 73078.

Masks and social distancing will be in effect at the services.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Maysville Cemetery with burial under the direction of John W. Willliams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.

James Lloyd Brand
December 9, 1928 ~ July 28, 1996


James was first married to Doris Lulene Ward. They were the parents of four children, Brenda [Owens], Jane [Hock], Linda [Holcomb], and David Brand. They later divorced.

Doris married Everett Autrey, passed away in 1979, and is buried in Texico, New Mexico. At the time of his death he was married to 'Living' Sullivan.
