Armous Milburn "Mib" Downey of Ratliff City, Oklahoma, was born to James Audie and Betty [Williams] Downey on May 28, 1925 in the old Robberson community southwest of Pernell, Okla., and went to be with his Lord on November 17, 2006 at the age of 81 years. He was the second son born to his parents.

Milburn attended school in Pernell where he was a bus driver for a time.

Milburn married Mildred McKee on August 17, 1943 in Ada, Okla.

He was gifted with numerous talents and was very mechanically inclined. In his early 20s he took a correspondence course in electronics and built a working television set.

He applied for a job with American Airlines at the Ardmore Park and was hired to work in the avionics department navigation equipment section.

Milburn remained with the company when it relocated in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and was promoted to supervisor of the department. When the company moved to Hayward, California, he relocated and traveled on the aircrafts in flight as a trouble shooter.

Later he was employed with Cessna Aircraft and established their avionics department. In his final years with the company he was over the Cessna avionics department in Sacramento, California.

Milburn obtained avionics and pilot's license and had opportunities to fly the jets. He enjoyed flying and owned several small planes.

His hobby of gold mining resulted in ownership of some claims in the lower Sierras on Steep Hollow Creek. He and his partner enjoyed building a road down the steep mountain to the mine. Milburn had great fun in the air boat he built, especially taking it down the American River.

Milburn was a member and deacon of Midway Baptist Church of Pernell. He was a faithful member of the Elmore City Masonic Lodge.
