© Davis News Davis, Oklahoma September 24, 2016 Willie Melvin "W. M." Shirley Sr 1940 ~ 2016 W.M. was born April 23, 1940 in Elmore City, Okla. to the late Buerl and Elsie [Stevenson] Shirley. He died Tuesday Sept. 6, 2016 in Davis at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 13 days. W.M. and the former Ms. Clara Mae Ervin were married on Sept. 20, 2965 in Gainesville, Texas. W.M. grew up in the Katie area where he attended school. He spent 50 plus years of his life working in automobile servicing for several car dealerships in the area including dealership owned by Bill Stewart, Pete Parker, David Foster and Mike Hellack. W.M. was always a dedicated employee and worked hard to meet the needs of the customers. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and, in earlier years, riding motor cycles. Survivors include his wife Clara; one daughter, Anita Shirley; one son, Tommy Ervin all of Davis; 12 grandchildren, Iisha Shirley, Chad Shirley, Ra'Chel Knight, Willie Melvin "Trey" Shirley III, Cameron Shirley, Callie Shirley, Tammy Ervin, Aundre McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Demekedrick Bradford, Shamar Bradford, and Lakeisha Bradford; numerous great-grandchildren as well as seven sisters, Thelma Braggs, Helen Dellefonte', Audra Scott, Leona Thomas, Patricia Shirley, Debra Ann Shirley and Tammy Shirley and five brothers, John Shirley, Billy Ray Shirley, Wendell Shirley, Larry Shirley and Steve Shirley. In addition to his parents, W.M. was preceded in death by one son Willie Melvin Shirley, Jr.; one grandson, Kobe Shirley; and one sister, Wilma Frazier. Serving as casket bearers will be Tommy Ervin, Bill Hill, Chad Shirley, Bryant Black, Trey Shirley, Cameron Shirley, Bobby Lucas, Ron Shirley, Jeff Scott, Wayne Scott and Marcus Knight. Honorary bearers will be Aundre McDonald and Thomas McDonald. Services are entrusted to Hale's Funeral Home of Davis. |
