© Chickasha Express~Star Chickasha, Oklahoma April 2, 2009 ~ April 4, 2009 Emery Horace Jones June 9, 1921 ~ March 31, 2009 Emery Horace Jones of Chickasha, Oklahoma departed this life on March 31st, 2009 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha at the age of 87. Emery was born on June 9th, 1921 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Jim D. Jones and Fronnie Mac [Taylor] Jones. He was the next to the youngest of seven brothers and one sister. Emery married Mertie Turnage in 1940. To this union two children were born, Horace and Shirley. On November 4th, 1967, Emery married Cynthia Ruby [Palmer] Cox in Konowa, Oklahoma. Emery worked as a truck driver for Scrivner for fifteen years. He worked in the oilfield since 1968, and he moved from Lindsay to Chickasha in 1978. Emery was tihe owner of Jones Oilfield Construction. Emery was a member of Grand Assembly of God Church in Chickasha. Fishing, hunting, camping and gardening were his favorite activities. Emery was known for growing his large turnips, cabbage and tomatoes. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Cynthia Jones, his daughters, Shirley Stein and husband Harlan of Tuttle, and Carol Allison and husband Leon of Duncan, and sons, Earl Cox and wife Pat of Bradley, James Cox and wife Christie of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Steve Cox and wife Abbie of Verden. Altogether, Emery leaves behind a total of five children, twenty-onegrandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Emery Horace Jones was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and one son, Horace Jones. Funeral services for Mr. Jones are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 at the Grand Assembly of God Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma, with Rev. Larry Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at Erin Springs Cemetery in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
