Norman, Oklahoma May 2009 August 13, 1938 ~ May 13, 2009 Wendell Hugh Payton, 70, of Norman, entered his eternal home in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 13, 2009. He was born to Aubrey and Addie Payton on August 13, 1938 in Bethany. He proudly received his GED in 2004 followed with a few college courses. He also attended Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City. He loved music, especially singing, playing the guitar and composition. In 2006 he recorded a CD in Chickasha. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, two brothers and his wife, Martha. He is survived by his love, Sue Group, of Chickasha; his daughters, Wyndelyn Payton, Shelly Payton and Terry Yandell and her husband, Randy; his son, Tony Payton and his wife Cindy, Jeanette Keeth and husband, Jim; Roger Kinney and Jerry Kinney; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Primrose Chapel with burial 2:00 PM at Elmore City Cemetery. The family received friends 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM today. Services are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. |
Norman, Oklahoma January 2002 April 22, 1937 ~ January 2, 2002 Services were held January 25, at 10 AM in Mayes Chapel, Norman, for Martha Jane Payton. Officiating was Rev. John Ballard, Sr. Martha Jane was the daughter of Elmer Ramsey and Lillian A. [Robinson] Ramsey. She married Wendell Payton and they lived in the Oklahoma City area, and later in the Norman area. They raised four children: Janie, Toni, Terry and Shelly Payton. Martha liked sports, OU football, and bowling and enjoyed life until she couldn't go anymore, her illness preventing it. She always stepped in as a caregiver to her family and her husband's when it was needed. She loved her family, kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Donnie Ramsey. Survived by her husband, Wendell of the home; her four children, and nine grandchildren.
