© Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise Pauls Valley, Oklahoma January 17, 2018 - February 16, 2018 John Kent Brewer, age 90, a Bartlesville resident, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 in Tulsa. John Kent Brewer was born September 19, 1927 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. He was the son of Jesse Elijah Brewer and Opal Mae (Moore) Brewer. He grew up in Elmore City, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Elmore City High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps for pilot training. Kent and Zona Mae Perry were united in marriage on June 10, 1950 at Wichita Falls, Texas and made their home first in Elmore City, then in Wynnewood prior to moving to Bartlesville in 1959. Kent was employed as an auditor with Phillips Petroleum Company from 1950 until 1987. The couple moved to Houston, Texas in 1984 and later returned to Bartlesville in 1987, following Kent's retirement from Phillips. Kent was a member of East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville, a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks and the Past District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Board of the Salvation Army. Kent was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Zona Mae Brewer in 2013 and a brother, Guy Brewer. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Perri Jeanne Applegate and her husband, Dr. J. Phillip Applegate of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Jack Brewer and his wife, Caroline of Tomball, Texas; a sister, Donna Price and her husband, Don of Mustang, Oklahoma and a special friend, Donna Shipman of Bartlesville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville with Pastor Jeff Burress officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Elmore City Cemetery, Elmore City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. © Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise Pauls Valley, Oklahoma February 5 ~ March 5, 2013 Zona Mae Brewer, age 81 and a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Zona Mae Brewer was born on December 22, 1931 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Henry R. Perry and Zona Augusta [Childress] Perry. She grew up in Wynnewood, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Wynnewood High School. After high school, Zona attended East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma. She met and later married John Kent Brewer on June 10, 1950 at Wichita Falls, Texas. The Brewers made their home in Wynnewood prior to moving to Bartlesville in 1984. The couple moved to Houston, Texas in 1987 and later returned to Bartlesville, following Mr. Brewer's work with Phillips Petroleum Company. Zona was a member of Bartlesville's East Cross United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary and with her husband in the Bartlesville Elks. She enjoyed collecting dolls, cooking, playing bridge, travelling and being with her family. Zona was preceded in death by her parents, by a brother, Henry Perry, Jr. and one sister, Verna Jean Brewer. Surviving Zona are her husband, John Kent Brewer of the home; one daughter, Dr. Perry Applegate and her husband, Dr. Phillip Applegate, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and one sister, Helen Fry of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held, 2 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at East Cross United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Burress officiating. A committal service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 in Elmore City Cemetery, Elmore City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
