Garvin County, Oklahoma August 1913 December 1850 ~ August 1913 George W. Sprinkle was born in December 1850 in Guadalupe County, Texas, son of Michael Sprinkle and Mary Jane Hibdon. In about 1875, George married Elsie J. Cagle, who was born in December 1855 in Arkansas, daughter of John Cagle and Mary Winton. George and Elsie had five known children: John, born March 1876 in Indian Territory; Mollie, born December 28, 1877 in Texas; Addie, born June 1881; Ethel Gertrude, born October 1887 in Garvin County, Oklahoma; and Pearl May, born February 22, 1888 in Caddo, Indian Territory. In 1880, George, age 28, was living in Precinct 6, Texas [Leon County], with his wife, Elsie J., age 24; and their son, John, age 8, and their daughter, Mollie, age 2. Elsie died in 1905, in Whitebead, Oklahoma [Garvin County] and was buried in the Whitebead Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma [Garvin County]. On July 30, 1904, in Whitebead, Oklahoma, George married Ellen Penny, who was born about 1876 in Alabama. Her death date and place are not known. George died sometime in August 1913 and was buried in the Civit Cemetery. His grave supposedly is located left of center, about ⅓ to ½ of the way north from the gate. It was only marked with a red stone. |
