October 23, 2008 Floyd James of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Andy and Nishie [Miles] James on June 24, 1918 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on October 23, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years. Floyd grew up and attended grade school in Pauls Valley and high school in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On January 3, 1938, Floyd and Marie Sparks were united in marriage in Pauls Valley. Floyd worked for Rabon Chevrolet and retired as head custodian at the Garvin County Court House. He has been a lifetime resident of Garvin County. Floyd was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 60 years. The highlights of his life were his church and his active role with the Samaritans. Mr. James was devoted to giving to others. He was a member of the Blue Lodge Masons. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid OU fan. Mr. James leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Floyd James Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and David James and his wife Lucinda of Norman, Oklahoma; one daughter: Nadine Fisher and her husband Edwin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister: Madge Breath of Tatums, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife: Marie James on February 14, 2002; his parents: Andy and Nishie Miles; five brothers and nine sisters. Funeral services for Mr. James are scheduled Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma with Rev. Morris Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. |
