© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma April 16, 2014 Opal Byars was born October 20, 1926 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Lucy Love and John Byars. She attended Dunbar Elementary in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Opal worked at the Colonial Nursing Home for years and was also a hair dresser. She loved to read and to cook homemade rolls for her neighbor. She attended Bethlehem until moving her membership to the Maple and Grant Church of Christ where she was a faithful member until death. Opal had eight children of which three preceded her in death: Freddie J. Thomas, Patricia Ann Austin and Jeffery Thomas. Also preceding her were her parents; four brothers; two granddaughters, Patrice A. Austin and Felisha Thomas; and one grandson, Price Davis. Surviving family include three sisters: Mary Helen Morris and Hartense Leach of San Diego, California and Katie Mae Hall of St. Louis, Mo.; her loving children: Lois J. Fields of Tulsa, Ok., Carolyn Bray, Pauline Turner, Vervina Thomas Byars all of Oklahoma City, Ok. and Carl D. Thomas of Pauls Valley; 26 grandchildren 67 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Pastor Martin of the Grant and Maple Street Church of Christ. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
