© The Purcell Register Purcell, Oklahoma October 27, 2005 July 17, 1933 ~ October 18, 2005 Funeral services for Vernon William Faulkenberry, 72, of Maysville were held October 21, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Maysville with Steve Mayhan officiating and Donald Gillham and Garland Bratcher assisting. Interment was at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville. Mr. Faulkenberry died Oct. 18, 2005 at his home in Maysville. He was born July 17, 1933 in the Criner area, the son of Robert Charlie and Ruby Mae Wilkey Faulkenberry. He lived most of his life in Garvin and McClain counties. Mr. Faulkenberry worked on the farm and dairy most of his life and for McClain County District I Commissioner Benny McGowen for about eight years before becoming disabled. He married Lois Marie McGreger March 12, 1960 in Purcell. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, W.J. Wilkey in 1986; his father, Robert Faulkenberry in 1981; his sister, Carolyn Kay Burton in 1984 and his great-granddaughter, Memphis Gail Tennison in 1996. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lois, of the home; one daughter, Yvonna Diane Lester and Robert Garrison of Purcell; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; his mother, Ruby Mae Faulkenberry of Purcell; four sisters, Marilyn Cotner and her husband, Roy, of Sedalia, Mo., Bethel Marie Hughes and her husband, Kenneth, of Oklahoma City and Doris Jean King and her husband, Johnny, and Frances Lavern Teel and her husband, Bill, all of Purcell and four brothers, R.C. Faulkenberry and his wife, Naomi, of El Reno and Billy Faulkkenberry and his wife, Peggy, Harold Ray Faulkenberry and his wife, Merlene, and Garry Faulkenberry and his wife, Robin, all of Purcell. |
