Ada, Oklahoma Sunday, March 14, 1993 November 9, 1949 ~ March 12, 1993 Services for Mildred Blackwood, 43, Tishomingo are 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Elmore City, the Rev. Edis Edwards conducting rites. Burial follows at Antioch Cemetery, north of Elmore City. Miss Blackwood died March 12, 1993, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born November 9, 1949, at Wynnewood, to Bill and Zettie Faye Fuller Blackwood. She graduated from Elmore City High School and East Central State University, Ada, with a degree in teaching. She was a teacher at McComb School and Job Training Partnership Act (J.T.P.A.) counselor with the Chickasaw Nation. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and moved to Tishomingo in 1978. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blackwood Sr. Elmore City; two brothers, Bill Blackwood Jr., Elmore City, and Jim Blackwood, Greenwood, Arkansas; and three sisters, Lavon Wimberly, Del City, Roszetta McGregor, Moore, and Linda Henderson, Elmore City. Fot Smith, Arkansas April 2017 December 20, 1954 ~ April 5, 2017 Jimmy Ray Blackwood, 62, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in Fort Smith. He was born Dec. 20, 1954, in Wynnewood, Okla., to the late Bill and Zettie Faye Blackwood. He was a retired oil and gas lease operator and a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Funeral service will 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Burial will be 4 p.m. Monday at Antioch Cemetery near Antioch, Okla., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; one daughter. Emily Oglesby of Pittsburg, Texas; one son, Brian Blackwood of Stillwater, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Harris of Elmore City, Okla., and Roszetta McGregor of Washington, Okla.; one brother, Bill Blackwood Jr. of Washington, Okla.; and three grandchildren. |
Greenwood, Arkansas August 2019 October 21, 1957 ~ August 18, 2019 Cathy Jo Blackwood, 61, of Greenwood, AR went to be with the Lord on Sun Aug. 18, 2019. Cathy was a beloved mother, “memaw”, daughter, sister, and aunt who will be dearly missed. Cathy grew up in Elmore City, OK and married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life—Jimmy Blackwood. She attended Oklahoma State University where she earned her accounting degree. Cathy raised two children and worked full-time as an accountant. She loved Jesus, her family, and her friends, and wanted all to know Christ and have a personal relationship with Him. She was so proud of her family, especially her grandkids. Some of her favorite things were to love on her family and friends, watching Disney movies with the grandkids, and attending birthday parties, ballgames, etc. Cathy was always up for a trip, sight-seeing, and shopping. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 40 years Jimmy Blackwood and her father Ben Bural. She is survived by her children Emily Ogelsby and her husband Cory of Pittsburg, TX and Brian Blackwood of Stillwater, OK, grandchildren; Brock, Hannah, Trevor and Alex Oglesby, her mother Carolyn Bural of Elmore City, OK, siblings Ben Bural [Joan Ferrell] of Edmond, OK, Sue Strickland [Jerry] of Velma, OK, Vicki Schmidt [David] of Elmore City, OK, and Lou Henning of Wichita, KS, sister in laws; Linda Harris and Roszetta McGregor and brother in law Wayne Harris and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family. Funeral Service will be 10 am Friday, August 23rd at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith, Arkansas with Interment to follow at 4 pm at the Antioch Cemetery in Elmore City, OK. Visitation will be 9:30-10:00 am the morning of the service. |
