A TYPHOID VICTIM
Charles Muecke Dies After a Short Illness
Death is sad at all times, but it is doubly so when the victim is a young man at the threshold of manhood. Such a case we are called upon to report this week.
Charles Muecke, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Muecke, died Monday evening at 8 o'clock of typhoid fever after an illness of but 5 days.
There are two other children, Miss Emma and Rhineholt, who are seriously ill of the same complaint.
The funeral was not held until Thursday afternoon in order to give relatives from a distance an opportunity to attend.
Mrs. Fred Stobe, a daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Muecke, August Muecke and wife, Will Muecke and wife, Fred Almendt, Albert Janer, Emil Janer and Henry Muecke arrived on yesterday's train from Iowa to attend the funeral.
The funeral was held from the German Lutheran church at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. The Rev. Philip Roesel conducted the services and burial was in the new German Lutheran cemetery, northwest of town.
The deceased would have been 21 years old in October and was a young man of much promise. His habits were of the best and during the year or so that he has lived here had made many friends.
The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.
