The funeral for Raymond E. Matlock, 76, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunter Christian Church, Hunter. The Rev. Kent Reubell will officiate. Burial will be in White Cemetery, Hunter. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Dewey to Roy and Verdilla Blevins Matlock and died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was raised in Ferdona, Kan., and Madison, Kan. He moved from Enid to the Hunter community in February 1922. He served in the Marines during the Korean War.
He married Margaret Sager Holden Feb. 22, 1982, in Wichita, Kan. He was a truck driver for KTL Trucking, Bruce Willey and several farmers. He attended Billings Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret of the home; three sons, Archie Matlock of Atoka and Troy and Jason Matlock, both of Enid; two daughters, Diane Chasteen of Jackson, Miss., and Verdilla Fleming of Booneville, Ark.; 10 stepsons, Steven Lee Pettyjohn of Enid, Larry Holden of Rochester, Wash., Dwight and Timothy Holden, both of Billings, Paul Holden of Hayward, and Ralph Holden, Stanley Holden, Henry Holden, Thomas Holden and Daniel Holden, all of Hunter; three stepdaughters, Barbara DeVries and Dorothy Chism, both of Hunter, and Marilyn Kindig of Hampton, Va.; three brothers, Floyd Matlock of Independence, Kan., Donald Matlock of Webb City, Mo., and Archie Matlock of Waverly, Kan.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home in his name.
