Howard Leon Kitchen, Jr.
December 12, 1948 - May 4, 2021
A Celebration of Life Service for Howard L Kitchen, Jr., age 72, of Hunter, will be Monday, May 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the White Cemetery, Hunter, OK under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.
Howard was born on December 12, 1948 in Enid, OK to Howard and Annie Kitchen. He was called home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2021 surrounded by his family and his dogs.
Howard grew up in Temple, OK, where he played out his love for High School Football. He moved to Hunter, OK where he graduated in 1966. Howard enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and served two tours in Vietnam. He had a strong passion and dedication to his country and his shipmates.
On December 30, 1994 he married the love of his life, Theresa and they made their home in Hunter. Howard worked at Vance Air Force Base as an Aircraft Mechanic for over 24 years. When he retired, he owned a successful family mowing business that he ran up until this year. He was the Mayor of Hunter for several years and brought forth many positive changes.
Howard was OU’s number 1 fan! Howard and his sone Kyle, have been season ticket holders for 20 years. They could always be found together cheering on their team every home game in the south end zone. He would also be found stopping at a local Hooters after the game! He was a Champion Trap Shooter who won many trophies. The 4th of July was his favorite holiday and he did it big every year. The bigger the explosions the better!
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Kitchen, Sr. and Annie Jones (Peck). He is survived by his wife Theresa Kitchen, of the home in Hunter; daughters, Katherine Beckton, of Enid; Elizabeth Mozingo (John), of Sapulpa; Brandy Harris (Shadae), of Enid; son Kyle Kitchen of Hunter. Howard was also blessed with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.
Memorial contributions in Howard’s name may be made to The American Lung Association or to the OMRF Cancer Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
