Graveside services for Mildred E. Brunken , 96, of Glencoe are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday at the White Cemetery in Hunter with Rev. Don Brown officiating. Services are under the direction of Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brunken was born Dec. 1, 1911 to Anton and Marie Vencl in Hunter. Her parents were from Czechoslovakia. She later married Lester Brunken on April 6, 1933. They spent their first years working in the oilfields in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma before settling on a farm in Hunter and later Glencoe, where she lived on the farm until she was 95.
Mildred loved the farm, her garden and most of all raising chickens. Mrs. Brunken was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She baked daily. You could stop by anytime and she would have fresh pie or cake and homemade bread. Her greatest love was in her sons and she devoted her life to them. Many times after dinner she would leave the dishes to help her sons move farm equipment. She was always ready to help.
She retired from the Stillwater Medical Center. She was a member the Glencoe Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brunken passed from this life to be with her Lord and savior on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in Pawnee.
She is survived by her two loving sons; Vincent and wife Karan of Glencoe, and James and wife Cindy of Glencoe, and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester Brunken , five brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stillwater Auxiliary. Condolences may be sent using our online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com.
