Larry Wayne Lounsbury
January 6, 1933 - August 6, 2023
The graveside service for 90-year-old Larry W. Lounsbury will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the White Cemetery in Hunter, Oklahoma. Rabbi Rick Koehn will officiate the service under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Larry was born January 6, 1933, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Milton and Alberta (Johndrow) Lounsbury and passed on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the home of his daughter Kim.
Larry grew up in the farming community of Hunter, Oklahoma, and at the young age of 10 years old he was harvesting and bringing in the crops. While attending High School he met his sweetheart, Kathryn. Larry went off to Oklahoma A&M, graduating with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Upon graduating, he entered the Medical Army. He and his wife Kathryn soon found themselves living in San Francisco, California, as he was stationed at the Presidio.
Driving across the Golden Gate Bridge daily and working in office towers downtown wasn't for this young couple. After his service they hustled back to Enid, Oklahoma, where Larry began working for General Hospital as a lab tech. Kathryn began raising their family and working part-time at Long's. Larry later became Operations Manager at Bass Hospital. His years of farming paid off as he could fix just about anything. Retiring to watch his grandsons play baseball ended up being one of his greatest joys, as well as taking the entire troop fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Mark, Jeff, Monty Lounsbury, and his daughters, Sue Sewell and Kim Koons; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Nelta of Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathryn, brother Bruce, and two nephews, Kevin and Micheal.
