The funeral for Ladonna Baker Yuhnke, 86, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Waukomis Christian Church with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born July 31, 1921, to Elmer (Cannonball) and Grace Perry Baker on a farm west of Waukomis and passed away at her home at The Commons in Enid, OK.
She attended Waukomis schools and Enid Business College.
On Sept. 5, 1943, she married Charles W. Yuhnke of Buffalo, NY, having met him at Enid Army Air Field. They lived in Enid until October 1949, when they built a home in Waukomis and lived there until June 23, 2003, when they moved to The Commons.
She worked 30 years for the Federal Service, retiring in August 1980 from Vance Air Force Base. She was a member of Waukomis Christian Church, active in the choir, Mother’s Club, and Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF). She loved singing in the choir and sang as a soloist for nearly five years at a small church in Enid. She was very active in the CWF. She and the other ladies helped with real estate sales to make money for the new fellowship hall.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, of the home; two sons, Dick and his wife Kathy of Yorba Linda, CA and Jim and his wife Clydell of Houston, TX; three grandsons, Chad and Wesley Yuhnke of Houston, TX, and Ryan Yuhnke of Newport Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to Waukomis Christian Church with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home in charge.

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Charles "Charlie" Yuhnke, 97, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Waukomis Christian Church, with the Rev. Dave Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Masonic graveside service will be conducted by Masonic Lodge 161. A family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, from 6-8 p.m.
Charles was born March 16, 1916, to Theodore and Gertrude Yuhnke in Buffalo, N.Y., and died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Enid, Okla.
He attended Buffalo Public schools as well as Buffalo Technical High School.
He joined the National Guard in November 1940 in Buffalo, later transferring to the Air Force. He was assigned to the Enid Army Air Field in November 1941.
On Sept. 5, 1943, he was married to Ladonna Baker of Waukomis. They lived in Enid until October 1949, when they moved to a new house they had built in Waukomis. There, they raised two sons, Dick and Jim. They lived there 54 years until moving to The Commons Retirement Community in Enid in 2003.
While living in Waukomis, Charlie was known for having the "best-looking yard in town" for many years.
He worked for Enid Parts Supply for 18 years and another 13 years for Auto and Truck Supply in Enid before retiring.
He was a member of Waukomis Christian Church, where he served as chairman of the board and was active on the building and loan committees of the new fellowship hall.
He served as a member of the Waukomis Town Council and was a member of Masonic Lodge 161, where he held all offices up to Master during his 60 years of membership.
Charlie loved to play golf. He and his partner twice won the four-ball tournament in Enid in their class, and he once recorded a hole-in-one, a feat he might have mentioned that nobody else in his family has ever done to this day. He amazed everyone he knew during the past several years being a 90-plus-year-old who was playing golf three times a week, and he walked and pulled his own cart when he played. The golf course was the only place in the world where one might see Charlie's temper flair up, a sign of competitiveness even in his 90s.
Charlie also enjoyed following OSU sports. Many were the time that he would get frustrated when it appeared they were going to lose, and he would go out to the garage and tinker, only to later discover that OSU had come back and won and he had missed it.
Charlie and Ladonna were married nearly 64 years until her passing on Sept. 3, 2007.
He is survived by his sons, Dick and special friend Linda Coffin of Enid, and Jim and his wife Clydell of Houston, Texas; three grandsons, Chad and Wes Yuhnke of Houston, Texas, and Ryan Yuhnke of Westminster, Calif.; one sister, Bernice Miller of Buffalo, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ladonna, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Waukomis Christian Church Special Projects fund with Brown-Cummings Funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
