Waukomis Cemetery


Mary Emma Wehling, loving Mother, Mother-in-law, Ge-Maw, Grandma Mary and/or Aunt Mary passed away, Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the age of 99 years and 5 months in Beggs, Oklahoma. She has been living with her daughter and son-in-law for the past three years and it was at this residence she passed away peacefully. She was born November 20, 1912 to Albert and Mary (Maly) Pipla in their home at Enid. Mary was the oldest of four children. Mary married Jack Wehling December 19, 1941 and they lived in Marshall/Douglas area then moved to Waukomis in 1958 making this their permanent home town. Jack preceded her in death in 1995. Her parents, one brother and one sister have also preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister Emma Navratil of Cresent, son Dale J. Wehling of Waukomis, daughter Carolyn Markes and her husband J. Ernest of Beggs. Five grandchildren and their families. Curtis Wehling of Waukomis, James D. Markes and his wife Jana, Derrick Markes and his wife Andrea and Travis Markes and his wife Erin, all of Beggs. Granddaughter Mitzi Bishop and her husband Jim, of Schertz, TX. Nine great grandchildren and sister-in-law Loucein Anderson of Enid and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was loved by all who met her and she will be remembered for her gift of crocheting, delicious kolaches, her Czech accent, most of all her love for everyone who crossed her path. She was well cared for by earthly angels Johnnie Faulkner, Emma Crockett and Wanell Candy while living at Beggs. Her chumming buddies Diane Petru, Joyce Benkendorf, Glenda Cass, Sandy Pettus, Vera Dierksen and Airawana Milacek while living at Waukomis. Edna Landwehr her faithful letter writing friend.

A visitation will be Sunday April 8, 2012 from 4pm to 7pm in the Henninger~Hinson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday April 9, 2012 at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bison where she was a member of the Bison Altar Society. Father Joe Arledge will be the presiding priest. Mary will be laid to rest in the Waukomis Cemetery next to her husband. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Angelic Hospice of Okmulgee, or the Bison Altar Society through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The family appreciates everyone who was always so kind to Mary. She truly loved each of you and she always enjoyed the activities and events you included her in.
