WAUKOMIS — Funeral service for Douglas Walker, 68, Waukomis , will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Waukomis Christian Church with Pastor David Jones, Pastor "Hoppy" Paul Hopkins and Father Don Bretz officiating. The United States Army will conduct military rites and Waukomis Masonic Lodge #161 will conduct a Masonic Service. Cremation will follow. Burial will be held at Waukomis Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Douglas was born May 4, 1942 in Enid the son of Duard Everitt and Alfreda Hammer-Walker and died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Lifecare Hospital in Plano, Texas.
He was raised in Okeene and moved to several places including Texas and New Mexico with his family before joining the Army in 1959. He served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Korea and Germany.
He married Myreta Feb. 4, 1967, at Waukomis Methodist Church. In 2010, they celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.
In 1981 he moved and made his home on his farm southeast of Waukomis . He worked as a metrologist for Northorop, Dyncorp and CSC. He retired in 2010.
He was a member of Waukomis Christian Church. He was a member of Waukomis Masonic Lodge #161 where he was a 32 degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Myreta, of the home; son, Craig and his wife Cyndi of Plano, Texas; a beloved grandson, Jackson; one brother, Richard Walker and wife Anne of Fayetteville, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Waukomis Masonic Lodge #161, Fisher House, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund or Army Emergency Relief.
