Waukomis Cemetery



Arthur J. Richard, 77, Sgt., U. S. Army retired, died Sunday in a local hospital.

Chaplain Major John R. Lynch will officiate at the military rites Thursday at 2 PM in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel and burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery.

Richard, a native of Brockton, Massachusetts, where he grew up, joined the U. S. Army at the beginning of World War I, serving in France and Germany. He re – enlisted in 1923 and served until 1944, when he received a medical retirement. He retired as a first sergeant and served as Sgt. with the National Guard in Alva.

Richard had lived in Waukomis since 1944.

He is survived by his wife Nell of the home; a son, Master Sgt. Arthur E. Richard, Vietnam; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Yvonne) Nelson, Little Rock, Arkansas, Mrs. W. L. (Alma) Bentley, Waukomis and Mrs. Charles (Louise) Loc, Akron, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; three great – grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Chester Dolan, Warchamm, Massachusetts; two brothers, Alderic Richard and Joe Richard, Wooster, Massachusetts.
