Funeral services for J. R. (Ruben) McClanahan, prominent Waukomis farmer, will be at 2 PM Friday in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery.
His body will lie in state in the funeral home until service time and the casket will remain closed afterward.
McClanahan, 76, died Tuesday evening, October 28, 1980, in a local hospital after a short illness. He was born on a farm southwest of Waukomis and spent his entire life there, until moving to Waukomis in 1970. He and Correne Benton were married at Wichita, Kansas, January 24, 1925.
McClanahan was affiliated with the Christian Church at Waukomis and was a member of the Waukomis Lodge No. 161, AF&AM.
Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the Christian Church at Waukomis.
McClanahan is survived by his wife Correne of the home; two sons, Donald McClanahan of Drummond and Wayne McClanahan, Waukomis; a brother, Wesley McClanahan, Enid; five grandchildren and eight great – grandchildren.
