April 28, 1953 - June 13, 2020

Graveside services for Richard "Rick" Dean Kokojan, 67 will be at 10:00 AM Thursday June 18, 2020, at Waukomis Cemetery officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

Rick was born in Enid on April 28, 1953, to Adolph and Adella Patocka Kokojan and passed away suddenly Saturday June 13, 2020, at his home.

Rick graduated from Waukomis High School in 1971 and then attended Enid Business College.

Rick married Brenda Newell in Waukomis on June 28, 1979.

He worked as a bookkeeper at a funeral home in Oklahoma City, followed by Hole Drilling in Enid, Pool Well Service in Hennessey and Permian Well Service in Ringwood as office manager, then as co-owner of Permian for the past nine years.

He was a very hard working man. Along with being office manager and farming, he also owned a trucking company that hauled corn from Nebraska to Oklahoma each week. His greatest passion was farming and ranching for many years with his brother and best friend Ron Kokojan. Harvest was a time Rick and Ron always looked forward to. The best wheat crop they had in the many years of cutting was in 2016 when a field made a record 104 bushel per acre and 64 lbs. per bushel. He will be laid to rest across the road from the field which produced that record yield.

Rick was a devoted husband and exceptional father and Pa-Pa and will be dearly missed. He was a very giving, caring man who truly loved spending time with his family. His favorite get away was at their home at Lake Tenkiller. Nothing made him happier than the smiles and laughter of his grandchildren being pulled at top speed on a tube around the lake.

He is survived by his wife Brenda of the home; his daughters Missy Shepard and husband Sunny, Mandy Keller and husband Cody; four grandchildren, Karson and Kinsley Shepard, and Keagan and Kash Keller; three brothers Dan Kokojan and wife Rachel, Ron Kokojan and wife Chellie, John Kokojan and wife Lisa; one sister Nancy Fuksa and husband Greg; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother and father Adella and Adolph Kokojan.

Donations may be made to the Heart Association or St Jude's Children's Hospital through Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
