Rodney E. Gungoll
Funeral services for Rod Gungoll, 66 of Enid will be Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Central Christian Church with Rev. Tom Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be Sunday evening, March 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rod was born on January 29, 1949 in Enid to E.O. “Bud” and Wanda Harris Gungoll and died on March 11, 2015 in Oklahoma City.
He graduated from Pioneer High School in 1967. Rod graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1971 with a degree in Animal Science. While at OSU, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Chairman of The Little International, and won The Little International, President of Block and Bridle Club, and member of the Junior and Senior Livestock Judging Team. He judged in Denver and Chicago. On December 13, 1974, Rod married Sue Ashley in Hunter and they made their home on the home place. He was a farmer, and a member of the Masons and the Shriners, and also received an Honorary State FFA Award. Rod was an arena director for the Enid Shrine Rodeo. He had his private pilot’s license, real estate broker and auctioneer license, and had the Waukomis Real Estate and Auction with Dwayne Goodwin. Over the years, Rod owned and operated Enid Livestock, Garfield County Feeders, and Blackwell Livestock Auction. He was a cattle buyer for Prairie Livestock, manager of Enid New Holland and sales manager for Garfield Equipment.
He was preceded in death by his father, E.O.”Bud”; brother, Leslie Wade; grandparents, George & Mary Gungoll, and Bill & Mollie Harris.
Rod is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; two sons, Grant Gungoll and his wife, Jodi of Meno, and Guy Gungoll of Oklahoma City; mother, Wanda Gungoll of Enid; brother, Brad and wife, Leah Gungoll of Edmond; sister, Claudia Henigman of Enid; aunt, Irene Green of Enid; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials may be made to the Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church.
