ENID — Bill Garner passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, in Oklahoma City. In his last days, he was surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

He was born Dec, 24, 1929, in Waukomis , Okla., to Harry Edgar and Dorothy Kreie Garner and was raised in the Drummond area in farming, ranching and business with his younger brother, Ben.

Bill graduated from Drummond High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College, Stillwater, graduating with a double degree in 1955. During that time he served overseas with his brother, Ben, and other Enid friends in the U.S. Army. He especially enjoyed reunions with friends around the country that served with him in the 325th HTU (Hospital Training Unit).

At OSU, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and met his beloved wife of 54 years, Francesca Druley, of Ponca City. Bill and Francesca married June 17, 1955, and moved to Enid to launch their business and create their family. Bill was in the insurance and real estate brokerage business, founding and operating the Garner Agency for over 40 years.

Bill was an active member of the American Business Club, Rotary Club of Enid, and Enid Metropolitan Association of Realtors, serving as president of all three organizations. He was awarded the Realtor Emeritus Designation at his retirement.

Bill was a charter member of the Grand National Quail Hunt in Enid. Bill was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish with his father, family and friends. He was a faithful friend to many. Above all, Bill loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Ben.

He was survived by his wife, Francesca, and daughters, Alexa Woodson, M.D., her husband, Mark Woodson, M.D., and their children, Ben, Jake and Adria of Edmond, and daughter, GiGi Faulkner and husband M. Clyde Faulkner and their son, Trevor Hayes, all of Oklahoma City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at First United Methodist Church, 401 W. Randolph, Enid, Okla., with Rev. Susan Southall officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery . Arrangements are entrusted with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
