Waukomis Cemetery


Mrs. Florence Eaton, 88, Waukomis, died Monday afternoon in a local hospital hospital after a long illness.

Her funeral will be at 2:30 PM Wednesday in the Waukomis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Hobby officiating. She will be buried in the Waukomis Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eaton was born December 22, 1894, at Britton, South Dakota, the daughter of William P. And Rebecca Reese Glendenning. The family moved to Waukomis in 1906 and she graduated from high school there in 1914.

She worked for the telephone company before her marriage to Oren D. Eaton May 27, 1927. Her husband died December 14, 1938.

Mrs. Eaton continued to live in Waukomis and for a number of years worked at a grocery store there. She served as secretary of the Waukomis Cemetery Association from 1959 until 1977.

Mrs. Eaton was a longtime member of the Waukomis United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Ted L. Eaton of Waukomis; two brothers, Harry Glendenning of Woodward and Eddie Glendenning of Oklahoma City; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Bacon, McPherson, Kansas; a grandson and two great – grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
