A private graveside service with military honors for William “Bill” “Bampa” Deck, age 94, of Enid, will be Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Bill was born October 21, 1925 in Enid, Oklahoma to the late William and Minnie (Henneke) Deck and passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Enid. Bill graduated from Covington High School in 1944 and then entered the U.S. Army. He served his country in Germany during WWII. After the war, he enrolled at Enid Business College, where he met and married Kathryn Gilley, July 18, 1949. They both graduated from that college. Bill first worked for Failings and then the Champlin Oil Refinery in Enid. He retired after 38 years and made lifelong friends with whom he still met with every Thursday at Braums until his health declined.
He is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn; twin sons, Dennis and Douglas Deck; grandson Christopher Deck; and his sister, Helen. Bill is survived by his daughter Cheryl Beasley and husband Jim; three grandchildren, Kelli Wilson and husband Coby; Chad Lisle and wife Angela; and Cydi Beasley; four great-grandchildren, Briley, Addison, Eden, and Zane Willliam Lisle; as well as two sisters, Virginia and Doris.
Memorials in Bill’s name may be made to Elara Caring Hospice (formerly Ross Hospice) or Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
