Waukomis Cemetery



January 14, 1948 - November 4, 2021

A Graveside Service for Merle Lee Boutwell, age 73, of Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021, at Waukomis Cemetery, Waukomis, OK. Mrs. Diane Rosen, cousin of Merle, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Merle was born January 14, 1948, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Florence (Schrader) Boutwell, and passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, in Enid.

He attended Enid Public Schools, and joined the United States Navy shortly before graduation. He served his country until he was discharged in 1969. He worked for the City of Enid as a cement finisher. He married Brenda Carol Cates on August, 30, 1996, in Berea, Kentucky. He attended Central Assembly Church until his health prevented him from attending. He loved his family and spending time with them any chance he could. He was an avid coin collector, and was a member of Enid Coin Club for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Florence Boutwell; wife, Brenda Boutwell; three brothers, Marvin, Fred, and Homer Boutwell; sister, Mary Ann Mullins; and cousins Clyde Boutwell and Linda Kay Wright. He is survived by niece Angie Binford and husband J.P.; great-nephew, Tim Binford and wife Jessica, and their two children, Wesley and Abigail, of LeGrande, OR; great-niece, Candace Reinhardt and husband Zac, as well as their twin daughters, Sadie and Madeline, of Meridian, ID; niece, Teresa Kelly and husband Paul, and their two sons, great-nephews, Elijah and Noah Kelly, of Athena, OR; several cousins, Edna Eeds and husband Avery, Shirley Stitt and husband Jacky, Diane Rosen and husband Mike, all of Kingfisher, cousin, Donald Boutwell, of Piedmont, OK, cousin, Lavenia Boutwell, of Kingfisher, and good friend Clifford Cooper and wife Juanita, of Enid.
