A graveside service for Helen Dean Ashby, 75, will be 2 PM Wednesday in Waukomis Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Bushnell will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Enid.

She was born July 4, 1923, in Enid to Otto and Grace Bealer Beyer and died Sunday, December 13, 1998, at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital.

She attended Waukomis schools, graduating from Waukomis High School.

On February 12, 1966, she married Robert Ashby in Enid. She was a grocery clerk for Safeway for many years.

She was a member of TOPS and Waukomis Christian Church and active in genealogy.

Surviving are her husband, Robert of the home; one daughter, Rita Sawyer of Tulsa; one sister, Naomi Harp of Edmund; two grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.

A graveside service, with military rites, by the VFW Local Number 2270, for Robert N. Ashby, 85, will be 11 AM Monday in Waukomis Cemetery. The Rev. Harold Honnold will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown – Cummings Funeral Home, Enid.

He was born June 14, 1917, west of Waukomis to William Elvin and Musa Dora Young Ashby and died Friday, June 14, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Waukomis high school then continued to farm until 1942. He enlisted into the Army and served in the Infantry, First Armored Division in Italy and Africa. After his honorable discharge, he resumed farming the family homestead. He was a member of Waukomis Co-op. On February 12, 1966, he married Helen Webb in Enid. They farmed in Waukomis until retirement, then moved to Enid.

Surviving are one daughter, Rita Sawyer of Guam; one sister, Wanda Schoonover of Enid; two grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, December 13, 1
